It was just one of "those" nights for Shaffer & CH Motorsports No. 83 Team........ After some confusion during the time trail line up Tim missed his slot and only got one lap at the end ~ which ended up a disappointing 25th quick overall.....Tim missed the transfer spot in his heat race by one spot and that sent him to the B-main, which he won.........In the first (Twin 30 lapper) main event Shaffer drove his butt off finishing tenth from his 23rd place starting spot......For the second thirty lap main The Steel City Outlaw started 5th with a good handling car. Tim felt good about advancing his position, but, unfortunately that didn't happen. The #22 of Brian Ellenberger spun right in front of the CH 83 of Shaffer...The cars made contact ending Shaffer's night.....No one was hurt.

July 14, 2010 - World of Outlaws, Limaland Motorsports Park; Lima, Ohio. The Steel City Outlaw 10th in WoO / Brad Doty main event.  

Shaffer circled the BIG 1/2 mile, semi banked, clay oval in 18.189 seconds placing him 6th fast overall. The Aliquippa, PA Native finished 4th in his heat which locked him into the "A". The CH Motorsports No. 83 VRP Shocks, Kistler Engines, Kistler Racing Products backed #83 lined up 5th on the A-main grid. Tim kept his elbows up, stayed focused and brought it home 2nd. It was a nice come back after struggling a bit early on. This was Tim's fifth straight top three finish.

Post race Quote from Shaffer, “At beginning of the night we struggled pretty hard. For awhile there was hope for getting a top five, but Brian (Kemenah, crew chief) and the guys did a great job. We were off a little bit, but we’ll take second. I really wanted to see the race stay green…it seemed like I could move around pretty good, but when they got out in clean air they would drive away. I’m happy to run second. As bad as I felt earlier in the night and then come back and finish second is awesome,”

Winning is NEVER easy, but The CH Motorsports No. 83 made it look easy in Lafargeville, New York's main event! Tim timed 2nd quick from the twenty-eight sprinters with a 14.733. In heat race #2 Tim finished 4th locking him into the A-main; and with the inversion started on the pole for the 30 lap "A".

 The Steel City Outlaw started to pull away at the drop of the green flag and never let up!! The Steel City Outlaw lead from start to finish!. The CH Motorsports Crew had the J&J / Kistler powered #83 machine working perfect!

Shaffer set fast time and won his heat race in his Aaron Call/Janet Holbrook owned Technique Roofing backed No. 83. Tim lined up on the pole for the 25 lap A-main. At the drop of the green outside front row starter Brad Sweet got the jump with Tim in tow. The Steel City Outlaw got close a couple times, but settled for second. It was a good points night for the CH Motorsports Team.

Post race quote from Shaffer, "Brad had a great car and he did a great job. He got the jump on the start and I knew I was in trouble. He was rolling around there good and we were just a little bit too loose. Hey, it's part of racing and I'm glad we ran second. He just did a great job of getting through traffic. It was great to be back to this track...it's been awhile since I've been here. Hats off to the crew here for getting this track prepped up nice."

It was a long... Feature at Sharon last night 3 cautions before 10 laps were in. Tim worked hard to improve his position and was looking great at the checker. Mike Lutz did a tremendous job on restarts and made few mistakes. With all the yellows and two red flags lapped traffic was not much of a issue. The last 10 laps were caution free and this is where Tim improved his position. I am sure "Lou" would have been happy to see a weekly show driver do well. Mike was one excited driver!

Next stop is West Virginia Speedway Fri. and Sat. next weekend. For those who have not been there, its a great facility for the fans. The track is very fast and "big", it takes all the horsepower you can muster!

Tim wins on his Birthday! What a present to yourself! LOL. 

 In arguably the best feature of the nine straight nights comprising the 28th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek, defending O'Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions titlist Tim Shaffer  blasted around Stevie Smith on lap 45 and went on to the $10,000 payday on Budweiser Night at Fremont Speedway.

For Shaffer it was his third win during the nine straight nights of racing and it came on his 43rd birthday. It is his 23rd career All Star victory and his sixth at Fremont Speedway. It also adds to his current point lead for the overall All Star championship.David Gravel's fifth place finish gave him the 2010 Ohio Sprint Speedweek Championship.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIM!!! (June 26)

Things started out good for Shaffer & CH #83 Team. Tim timed 3rd fast, he finished second in heat #3, third in the "dash" and was extremely fast in the main event. Tim started 2nd and made it very clear he was racing for the win. Tim battled for the lead several times, many side by side duels with the leader only to lose momentum when caution flag flew. On a restart Tim got involved with the leader and a lapped car which forced Shaffer into the outside wall, resulting in a stalled engine on the CH #83. This sent The Steel City Outlaw to the rear with a bent wheel. Tim came back to finish 13th.

Tonight's All-Star event @ Freemont in the last race on the Ohio Speedweek Tour. Shaffer is 7 points back. GO TIM!!

The CH Motorsports No. 83 Team had a decent night. Tim circled the fast Ohio dirt oval in 11.176 which was 7th overall....Shaffer had a solid car in heat #3 finishing 3rd. In the fast dash Tim jumped out into the lead and took the win! The crew kept an eye on the ever changing track conditions trying to hit that perfect set up....It wasn't a win, but it was a top 5 finish for The Call / Holbrook  owned J&J machine. The CH Team is looking for better results tonight @ Sharon Speedway (Race #7). GO TIM!!

The CH Motorsports No. 83 Team had a solid night in Millersburg Ohio. Tim time 12th (13.290) from thirty two entries. In heat #4 Shaffer finished second with a good handling car, he backed it up with another 2nd place finish in the fast dash. With the inversion The Steel City Outlaw would start the 40 lap main event from the 9th spot. Tim had solid car and felt good about his chances. When the race went green the capacity crowd went crazy! The racing action was intense. Side by side battles, slide jobs and just plain hard racing. In the end the CH #83 ride was fourth.

The CH Motorsports #83 Team struggled a bit in qualifying. Tim timed 25th fast from the thirty-eight sprints. In heat No. 1 Shaffer was third after the 8 lap race ended.

The crew continued to tweak on the J&J chassis set up throughout the night and after starting 22nd in the thirty lap A-main The Steel City Outlaw brought it home 10th.

Tim timed a disappointing 26th quick in his CH Motorsports #83. He then followed that up with a second place finish in heat race #2........Next up for Shaffer was the thirty lap main event where he lined up way back in the 22nd spot. There was a lot of close racing action and when the race ended The Steel City Outlaw was 10th. 22nd to 10th... Tim is now 5th overall in Ohio Speed-week points.

Shaffer timed the CH Motorsports #83 machine 8th fast from the 41 sprinters. In heat race #4 Shaffer finished 5th. Up next for the Aliquippa, PA Native was the six lap fast dash event where he finished 2nd.

In the thirty lap A-feature The Steel City Outlaw started from the pole. At the drop of the green Shaffer put his elbows up and the go peddle to the floor! The race was exciting and the capacity crowd was on their feet cheering! When the dust settled The Call / Holbrook J&J / Kistler powered red & white #83 was in victory lane! It was a great night for the CH Team!  

Post race quotes from Tim, "This is the first time I have ever won here and it is awesome!", exclaimed Shaffer.  "The last five times I have drawn a six pill and when I drew the one I was a little nervous (laughing).  We've been having some tough luck and this really helps out." "Having the family here was really nice.  I thought someone might be right there with me the whole time, so I just ran scared."

The Steel City Outlaw set fast time from the 43 All-Star drivers. In heat race #1 Shaffer finished 5th placing the CH Motorsports #83 sixth on the A-main grid. In the 40 lap A-main  Shaffer wasted little time getting into the top three. It was a fierce battle for the top spot and on lap 32 Shaffer took point. On the 35th circuit (restart) Shaffer's #83 ran out of fuel along with 2nd place Dale Blaney....The two would be sent to the rear.....bummer. "By the way Tim avoided a crash by putting the car through a narrow space between the fence and a stalled car that amazed everyone present."

Tim had a real good night timing 4 quick at his home track. Inversions were not his friend as he had to work hard both in the heat and feature. Tim and Dale Blaney had the fastest cars on the track. Tim started 5th in the feature and had only 1 yellow to tighten up the pack. A very unfortunate red came out late in the race that gave Tim a chance in the remaining laps to reel Dale in. By lap 26 of 30 it looked like could catch him and on 27 he did. Catching a fellow veteran is one thing, passing is another. Tim made a couple attempts using the low line, but the laps ran out.

It was great to watch to friends racing each other, they always enjoy it, as does the crowd.

Unfortunately the night was marred by a brutal crash on the front straightaway.  A local driver Charlie Holben was upside down and his car was engulfed in flames. The emergency crew were on the scene and were able to extinguish the flames and remove him from the car. He was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Pitt. and reportedly stable. The CH Motorsports #83 of Tim Shaffer set fast time, won heat race #1 and finished 3rd in the dash. The Kistler Engines, Kistler Racing Products #83 machine of Shaffer was working good and the team was ready for the forty lap A-main...... Starting from the 6th spot Tim went to work, at the half way point The Steel City Outlaw was fourth and getting faster. On lap 35 Shaffer took the lead from Bryan Sebetto, but the caution flew putting Sebetto (Running the high line) back in front with open track. In the closing laps Shaffer reeled in the leader using the low line, but two late race cautions kept Shaffer's No. 83 from using lapped traffic to grab the lead back.

 (Webmasters Note): "Having been in the infield in turn 1&2 I have to add a little to this report. This was just one awesome race by both Tim & Bryan. Tim put the car places the other 24 were afraid to go. Late in the race the track had taken rubber and it seemed all the moisture was gone. Tim drove over the inside burm and virtually plowed some moist dirt back on the track. He used that in the remaining laps to try to catch Bryan but as in all good battles, some time you just run out of laps. I will remember this one for awhile."

The Steel City Outlaw qualified the CH Motorsports No. 83 second fast from the stout 31 car field. In heat #2 Shaffer crossed the line third......Tim then finished 4th in the ten lap "crack the whip" race........The #83 J&J / Kistler ride started the "A" from the 6th spot (outside row #3) and when the dust settled Shaffer was 3rd. It was another solid performance for the Call/Holbrook machine.

Shaffer piloted the CH Motorsports #83 from its 13th starting spot to the lead in nine laps. On lap 21 Shaffer lost the lead and fell back to third. With four laps remaining The Steel City Outlaw pulled a daring move in lapped traffic to retake the lead and the win! It was a exciting night at Attica Raceway!

 “They doubled teamed me…I was like ‘where did they come from.’ That had to be a fun race to watch. Brian (Kemenah, crew chief) and the guys..hats off, great job. I have to thank Technique Roofing, VRP Shocks, Kistler Engines…it goes on,” said Shaffer beside his C&H Racing backed #83 on his sixth career Attica win.

“We are starting to get the Goodyear tires figured out. It’s a different deal and everyone’s got to run’em,” added Shaffer. “That was a blast. Everyone raced each other clean and hard. I really love that and respect that and I try to do my best to do that. To come from that far back and win here…that’s hard. Everything just fell into place. We struggled early..I wasn’t going to make it through the heat race and I had some luck and that put us in the feature. I was like ‘maybe we need to run the B to get some more laps. But Brian figured it out…that thing was awesome,” added Shaffer. “That’s what’s so unique about dirt track racing, it changes all the time. Next week we could come here and not make the show, but as long as these guys keep working hard I’m not going to quit on them.”

            In the twenty-five lap A-main (prelim #2) The Steel City Outlaw lined up 5th (Inside row #3) and raced his way in to the lead on the fourth circuit and went unchallenged to the end. Shaffer said, "The car was so good, I could move around where they weren't."

A night to forget. Tim timed 27th fast from forty-one cars. In heat #3 Shaffer started 7th and finished 7th missing the transfer (top five) spot to the A-main. The Steel City Outlaw timed thirteenth fast from the thirty car field. In heat race #1 Shaffer piloted the CH Motorsports #83 to a second place finish. Tim lined up outside of row #4 (8th) for the start of the 25 lap (prelim) A-main. When the race ended the CH #83 was 2nd. It was strong start to kick off the 2010 season. Tim Shaffer and the CH (Aaron Call/ Janet Holbrook) Motorsports #83 Team started off the 2009 season by winning the O'Reilly All-Star Circuit of Champions opener at Ocala Speedway and ended the 2009 season as the All-Star Champion.  This was the first time in All Star Series history that the eventual champion won the first event of the season.

             “It’s an awesome season when you can win the All-Star championship and have fun doing it" said Shaffer “Aaron and Janet provide the things needed for me to win races" Tim also said, "I cannot ask for a harder working crew, my crew guys work so hard day in and day out giving me great cars, they're a dedicated group for sure, plus they're just a lot of fun to be around"

            Throughout the 09 season crew chief Brian Kemenah made the right calls on the J&J / Kistler powered CH Motorsports #83 machine of Shaffer.  "The Steel City Outlaw" had eight All-Star feature wins, nineteen top 5's and twenty-nine top 10's grabbing the All-Star Circuit of Champions point title in the process!

            Overall Tim had twelve A-main wins in 2009. The Aliquippa, PA Native won main events at the following tracks, Freemont Speedway (3 times), Freemont OH.; Attica Raceway Park, Attica OH.; Ocala Speedway, Ocala FL.; Lernerville Speedway, Sarver PA.; Elkins Speedway, Elkins WV.; Millstream Speedway, Findlay OH.; Hartford Speedway, Hartford MI.; Hilltop Speedway, Millesburg OH.; Knoxville Raceway, Knoxville, IA.; and Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, (World of Outlaws) Elbridge; New York.

            The CH Motorsports Team will try and defend their All-Star title in 2010 running the full All-Star schedule. Tim's 2010 "race schedule" will be very similar to 2009.

            The #83 Team is now headed to Florida for two nights of practice on Jan 27-28, followed by the All-Star season opener on Jan 29th & 30th. GO TIM!!
