5/3/08--Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws, Knoxville Raceway;
Knoxville, IA. The Steel City Outlaw takes hard tumble in Knoxville
main. |
|
The
Casey’s General Stores #6 started the night with a 15.202 in time trials
which ended up being 14th quick from the 45 car field. In
heat race two Tim had a fast car and finished 4th locking the
Parsons Motor Sports entry into the twenty-five lap A-main. When the
main event went green Shaffer (second attempt) rocketed in to the first
turn riddin’ the cushion at over 100 mph suddenly the #6 (not sure why)
started flipping violently. Tim was not injured and credits that to his
Safety Solutions “R3” head and neck device.
Tim
in 11th in WoO points.

4/11/08--Advance Auto
Parts World of Outlaws, Rossburg, Ohio. “The Steel City Outlaw” charged
from 23rd to 5th in Eldora A-main! |
|
Things
didn’t start out to good for Tim Shaffer and the Casey’s General Stores
/ Vocon Team. Tim timed a disappointing 24th quick. Followed by an 8th
place heat race finish (top 6 transfer to A-main); which meant he was
now headed to the last chance B-main ~ where only the top 6 transfer to
the “A”. In the twelve lap “B” Shaffer grabbed the 5th spot and was now
“locked” into the thirty lap A-feature.
Tim lined up WAY BACK in the 23rd (last row) position so he defiantly
had his work cut out for him. As the race went green he started moving
forward. After a few cautions Tim found himself running inside the top
10. When the dust settled The Steel City Outlaw was 5th earning him the
“KSE Race Products Hard Charger Award”.
The
Casey’s crew continually wrenched on the red #6 throughout the evening
trying to find more speed. I think they found some in the A-main! These
guys’ never give up!

4-5-08--Advance Auto
Parts World of Outlaws; Pevely, MO. “The Steel City Outlaw” finished 4th
in I-55 Raceway A-feature. |
|
It was a good night for the Casey’s
General Stores Team. Tim timed 10th quick circling the high-banked
1/3-mile oval at 11.503 seconds at well over 100 mph. Shaffer grabbed
2nd in his heat race which landed the Aliquippa PA Native in the Crane
Cams Fast Dash where he finished a strong 2nd placing the Parsons Motor
Sports Maxim on the outside pole for the forty lap A-main. When the “A”
went green Shaffer tucked into the second slot as the slicing and dicing
began. As the race unwound Tim found himself in several heated
side-by-side battles with several WoO drivers. When the checkered waived
The Steel City Outlaw was 4th. It was a solid effort by the whole team!
Post race Quote from Tim Shaffer, “We were a little too good too early,”
said Shaffer. “We were really good in the heat race and the dash. You
live and learn. We ran a little bit different set-up than we normally do
and we just missed it a little bit. We just couldn’t move around as much
as we needed to.”

2-16-08-World of
Outlaws - Persistent overnight rain and heavy showers continuing through
this morning, with severe storms forecast throughout the day have forced
the postponement of the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car
Series event at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Mississippi originally
schedule for tonight, February 16. Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws
Sprint Car Series officials and track officials are currently working on
a makeup date which will be announced at a later date. |

2/10/08--Advance Auto
Parts World of Outlaws; Alltel DIRTcar Nationals. The Steel City Outlaw
finished 15th in Volusia finale. |
|
Shaffer
qualified 30th quick (not good); he missed the transfer spot in his heat
race (finished 7th again not good) so he now had to run the B-feature.
The crew changed the set up on the Parsons Motor Sports Maxim for the
short twelve-lap B-main. In the “B” The Steel Outlaw started 9th and
finished fourth placing him in the 12th row for the start of the
thirty-lap A-main. In the “A” the red #6 of Shaffer charged up to 15th
from his 23rd starting position before the rear tires sealed over and
that’s as far as he would go.
Tim said, “We were really good in the B-main the car was fast, in the
A-main we were good too, but the rear tires sealed up under a caution”.
Next up for the WoO is Pike County Speedway, Magnolia MS. on Saturday,
February 16. GO TIM!!

2/7/08—All Stars; Volusia
Speedway Park, Fl. Tim finished 14th in Volusia “B” main. |
|
Shaffer
timed 39th fast from the 51 car field. In heat race #3 Tim failed to
transfer to the A-Feature; so he had to run in the “C” main, which he
won placing him 17th in the “B” where he finished 14th ; with only the
top-4 sprints transferring into the “A” the Casey’s Team was done for
the night. Last night was a “Shakedown” race so to speak. The
Casey’sTeam is busy preparing the red #6 Maxim for tonight’s WoO season
opener @ Volusia Speedway Park. GO TIM!! |
|
(2-3-08)- O'Reilly ASCoT Nationals “King of The 360’s” Finale @ East Bay
Raceway, Tampa, Fl. |
|
Tim
won the 2nd “B” feature in convincing style which placed the
Aliquippa PA Native 20th on the A-main grid from the
twenty-four starters. Tim said, “The car was working great”. In the
Forty-lap main Tim was a man on a mission. He was darting through
traffic and on his way to the front in a hurry. With ten laps to go
Shaffer was running in the top 5; he was hoping for a caution to group
up the front runners (top 5). He got his wish, the yellow came out with
ten to go and Tim was FAST. Things were looking good! Unfortunately for
Shaffer he would not get to compete for the A-main win. As they were
pacing around under yellow the Doc Sloane #a12 ran out of GAS! Not sure
WHY??, but that was it for Shaffer’s fantastic run to the front.

(2-2-08)- Night #2 of the O'Reilly ASCoT Nationals “King of The 360’s” @
East Bay Raceway, Tampa, Fl. |
|
Fifty-two
sprint cars were on hand for the second night of
the
“Ronald Laney 360 Nationals”. Tim drove the Sloane #a12 from 8th
to fourth in his heat race, and in the A-main Shaffer advanced seven
positions to finish 8th. It was a decent run (15th
to 8th) for the #a12 Team. The team is looking for better
results in Saturday’s finale. GO TIM!! |
