Update on
Tim October 17thst |
|
We went to the neurosurgeon
on Monday, October 16th. He said everything looks great. He said that if Tim
wants to, he can come back in January for a CAT scan to make sure the bone
growth is sufficient to get back into the race car, but he doesn't see any
possible reason why it wouldn't be, so he feels confident to tell him to go
ahead and race in February. He did say that Tim needed some therapy
(physical for him, psychological for me!). Tim decided rather than incur
more costs, he would just do his own exercises at home (lord help me!).
Little Timmy went to the doctor's appointment with us and asked the
neurosurgeon if he daddy could wrestle hard with him now - too funny! Slowly
things seem to be getting back on track and returning to normal (I can't
remember what that is!).
Thank you all for your prayers, support and I know I have said it many times
before, but we love you, appreciate you and are proud to have you all as our
friends - we couldn't have made it through this without you!

Update on
Tim September 21st |
|
Some people have been asking
and I guess it has been a while so I thought I would send out an update on
Tim.
He is doing great! He goes back to the Pittsburgh neurosurgeon on October
12th. He really liked the Des Moines neurosurgeon, Dr. Carlstrom, but we are
counting on only one more visit and being done so we will just deal with the
doctor here in Pittsburgh. When this accident first happened they told Tim
it would take between 3 to 3 1/2 months to fully recover. On October 12th it
will be 3 1/2 months. Unfortunately, the season is over at that time so Tim
is concentrating on the 2007 racing season.
It has been a long hard road to recovery for both Tim and I. The bills are
an every day battle. We just received a collection letter from an ambulance
bill that Tim had in 1999 at Tulsa Speedway that never got paid and I didn't
know it! We had our trials and tribulations over the last few months, but it
has only made us stronger and our respect and appreciation for our friends,
family and relationships stronger. I can't wait until the 2007 season to
travel and see everyone again, I miss you all! This past year has been a
tough one not only on us, but all of the racing community.
On
another subject, my baby started Kindergarden! Here is a photo of him
getting off the school bus. Tim is truly enjoying the time he is getting to
spend with Timmy. Timmy is excited that daddy has his neck brace off and can
wrestle with him!
They say everything happens for a reason. Well I'm not sure I found out the
reason for this event in our lives yet, but to test Deb's sanity, but I am
just thankful that everything will be normal again (except me!), whatever
normal is in the life of a sprint car driver! |
|
Update
on Tim August 15 |
Just got home from the neurosurgeon in Des Moines. Tim is
coming along great. He can ditch the Aspen Collar while he is home around
the house or not doing anything dangerous - ha! ha! - Tim do something
dangerous!!! He also said that he can ditch it all together in 2 weeks. He
expects the vertebrae to be healed in about 4-6 weeks - which was the
original prognosis of 3 months. However, nobody has mentioned to us about
this bone growth stimulator that Tim has been wearing. I don't understand
why somebody wouldn't want to see a CAT scan at least a little early - 3
weeks? just to see if the darn thing worked or not. Therefore, I am
calling the company that sent us that today to ask them some questions.
I know we shouldn't rush things and trust me I am whole heartedly in
favor of just having him wait until the spring; however, we just got home
from the Nationals and if he has to watch his car with someone else in it
much longer, he is going to have a heart attack and I won't need to worry
about his neck.
Lonnie Parsons still needs our prayers, but he is finally home resting.
He still has some issues that need to be taken care of in the hospital, but
he is doing much, much better.
Our thoughts and prayers also go out to the King family. Steve King, 33,
of Jetmore, Kansas was killed Wednesday night at Knoxville while competing
in the Nationals. Also to the Rebman family, Joe Rebman of Mansfield, Ohio
was killed in a sprint car crash Friday night in Mansfiend, Ohio. My heart
aches for these families and it makes me realize how lucky we are to still
have Tim with us. I also truly believe that these two men died doing what
they loved to do and the Ethanol #88 & Rebman #79 are making God dizzy
turning left and will never be forgotten. Please keep these families in your
prayers and take the time to tell your loved ones how much you love them for
you never know when they can be snatched from us.
We has seen such astounding acts of kindness and it seems to never end. A
car owner asked Tim at the Nationals why he wasn't wearing a HANS device
when he had his accident. Now before Tim's accident Tim was thinking about
starting to wear one, but just a hand full of drivers are currently using
them and they are expensive. A few minutes later Tim's cell rang and it was
that owner's secretary calling to get his measurements to order him one.
We love you all!

Aug. 5.
SELINSGROVE, Pa. The NST event got off to a somber start when longtime car
owner Lonny Parsons was hit by a water truck while crossing into the
infield. |
|
Parsons, 65, was hit shortly after 4 p.m. He was airlifted by helicopter to
Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa.
Tim Shaffer, who started the year driving for Parsons but has been
recovering from a June wreck, said Parsons suffered a cracked cheekbone and
partially collapsed lung. Parsons also had cuts in his face and had bruises
on his knee and back, Shaffer said.
Dean Jacobs, who has been filling in for Shaffer, was amazed by how well
Parsons was doing Saturday evening.
“They did an MRI from head to toe, and nothing was wrong,” Jacobs said after
his 13th place finish. “They might release him on Sunday. That’s a miracle.
I saw the whole thing. It was just an accident. I thought he was gone.
“It was really tough,” added Jacobs. “Then we got the news he was getting
better, and it took off a heavy weight off my shoulders. I’ve known him for
a long time. There’s not a better guy out here.”
For Shaffer, the news Parsons could be released soon was icing on the cake.
“We already had one miracle here,” he said.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lonny and the entire Parsons family for a
speedy recover.
Get well soon Lonny!

Tim Update
July 25 |
|
Well we went to the
neurosurgeon this morning. He has to wear the Aspen Collar for at least
another 4 weeks. He only took x-rays and did not do a CAT scan so he was
only able to tell that the vertebrae was still in alignment, but not how
much it had healed. He said that nobody could possibly have healed very far
in 4 weeks so he didn't want to expose him to needless radiation. Obviously,
Tim is not happy about that because he feels like he has healed and wanted
to see how much. He is just so anxious to get back to racing and I can't
blame him, but he needs to make sure he is 100%. He is like a bear with a
sore ass today and I catch most it, so keep your prayers coming! A healthy
race car driver is hard enough to live with - an injured one is hell! We go
back in 4 weeks again so hopefully we will have better news.
Some of the acts of kindness we have seen over the last few weeks have made
us truly humble and keenly aware of how extraordinary you all are and we are
truly blessed and proud to have you in our lives.
Love-

NATIONAL SPRINT TOUR
ANNOUNCES CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP |
|
Indianapolis, Indiana: July 18, 2006
Any uncertainty following
the death of founder Fred Brownfield as to whether the National Sprint Tour
would continue was resolved last week when three of the race teams and
owners involved with the series purchased all the assets of the NST and are
moving forward full speed ahead. The teams and owners that purchased the
assets include Don Lamberti and Lonnie Parsons of the Casey’s General Store
sponsored #6 car driven by Tim Shaffer; California businessman Guy
Stockbridge with the #14 Elite Racing team piloted by Jason Meyers; and,
the #11 Quaker State ride owned and driven by 20 time Champion Steve Kinser.
The three teams partnered together to acquire the assets of the series,
including the balance of the 2006 schedule, and have every intention of
carrying the series into next year and thereafter. The reasons behind their
venture are obvious and compelling
“My
friend Fred Brownfield, together with all these race teams, sunk their
hearts and souls into this series. It was the right thing to do when we did
it, and it’s still the right thing to do. Yes, Fred’s death was a
devastating blow to his family and friends; he was a great man admired by so
many. But partly because of that, and all the hard work he and his family
had put into this thing, the last thing in the world we could do was to just
walk away from the series when so much good had already been accomplished,
and the series was really starting to take off. Debbie Brownfield wasn’t
really up for going forward herself, and rightfully so. She’s just lost her
best friend of thirty years. So the only alternative to us buying it was for
it to be sold to someone else who would just liquidate the assets and shut
it down. We couldn’t let that happen. So we’re going forward in the only way
we know how, and in the way that Fred would want us to: doing things the
right way and putting on the best show we can for the hundreds of thousands
of dirt track fans across the country.”
Guy
Stockbridge was equally loyal to the ideals and commitment of Fred
Brownfield: “I didn’t wake up one morning and decide I wanted to be part
owner in a sprint car series, but I’d get up every morning to help carry on
the legacy of a guy like Fred Brownfield. This is still his baby and we
commit to the entire racing community, especially the fans, that we’re going
to do everything within our power to bring to them the very best winged
sprint car racing possible. Fred was tireless, and we will be too.”
Don
Lamberti, longtime supporter of Knoxville Raceway, and founder of Casey’s
General Store, is ecstatic to have the opportunity to keep giving to the
sport that means so much to him: “Fred put together a great organization,
both the race teams involved and his staff. I am pleased and committed to
continuing his efforts. I’ve been involved as a car owner, sponsor or
otherwise for over forty years, and I’m glad to contribute in any way I can
to the continued success of this series.”
Not only
is the new ownership of the NST excited about going forward with the series,
all the tracks the NST has ran in the last month or two are likewise
ecstatic. The series has been running in front of packed grandstands and,
most importantly, has offered as exciting of races as possible. At Tri-City
Speedway in Franklin PA Sunday night, Steve Kinser banged his way around
teammate Tim Kaeding on the last lap for the win. Mike Graham, promoter of
the event, put it best: “The program was good, the format was good, and it
all added up to a super race! We sure have no regrets, and we’d like to do
it again.” Donnie Mack, promoter of the two night NST show in Grand Forks,
ND in early July, was more blunt : “ I’ve been doing this for over a couple
decades. I can tell you that the NST people were the best to work with, just
great. I want my same dates next year and the year after. They know that. I
told ‘em five times, gimme my same dates next year. They put on a dynamite
show and my fans loved it”.
The
series continues its trek across the country tonight before another expected
packed house at Fonda Speedway in upstate New York, followed by dates at
Attica and Fremont, OH, then on to Susquehanna, Selinsgrove and Hagerstown,
before breaking for the Knoxville Nationals. The series then bolts west for
shows in McCool Junction, NE, Billings, Grays Harbor, Cottage Grove,
Sweetwater Speedway (Wy) and points in between, ending the season at The
Tulare Thunderbowl, where it all began in February. The Dude Danny Lasoski
presently leads the NST points race, but right on his heels are Kaeding and
Kinser, and followed closely by Meyers, then Jason Solwold, Jason Sides,
Paul McMahan, Shane Stewart, Brian Paulus, injured Tim Shaffer and Kerry
Madsen.
Debbie
Brownfield: “ I have no doubt in my mind that these guys will carry this
series forward with the same devotion that my husband did; conducting
themselves with integrity and fairness, and knowing that their purpose is to
entertain race fans across the country. All my best, and thanks to them.”

We
would like to send out a thank you to our "racing family" |
|
As most of
you know, Tim suffered a fractured C-1 vertebrae after a violent crash at
Knoxville Raceway on June 23rd. His neurosurgeon's prognosis is that Tim
will completely heal with time. We are going to have a rough couple of
months ahead with Tim's recovery, but we have comfort in the fact that we
have an unbelievable group of people surrounding us. We were astounded to
see how our "racing family" has come to our aid in so many different
ways. We knew racing people were a special breed in that they loved the
speed, excitement and thrill of the race. However, we were unaware of the
fact of just how generous, selfless and special they truly are when
something happens to one of their own. Some of the acts of kindness we have
seen over the last few weeks have made us truly humble and keenly aware of
how extraordinary you all are and we are truly blessed and proud to have
you in our lives.

From Speed Sport News 7-4-06 |
|
By Craig Murphy Following Tim Shaffer’s harrowing crash the
previous weekend at Knoxville, Lonny Parsons had a new driver behind the
wheel of his car July 1 as the National Sprint Tour raced in Winner, S. D.
Parsons tabbed Trevor Green to fill in for Shaffer at Winner Speedway.
“I was going to come down with them anyways,” said Green, a longtime friend
of Parsons Motorsports crew chief Adam Kinnear. “I’m helping them out, and
they’re helping me out. Other drivers had other commitments, so I was in the
right place at the right time.”
Though Green was not sure how long he would stay in the seat, Parsons said
Dean Jacobs would take over when the NST comes to Grand Forks, N. D. for a
doubleheader this weekend.
“Dean Jacobs will be in the car starting at North Dakota, until Tim is
back,” Parsons said. Parsons said Shaffer was expected to visit the doctor
again July 3 for another scan on his C2 vertebrae.
“He’s getting along OK, I guess,” Parsons said of Shaffer. “He’s in the
dumps about not being able to race. It was a pretty vicious hit he took.
He’s been wearing a hard neck brace.”
Parsons said doctors originally told Shaffer he would have to be out of the
driver’s seat for 90 days. “I would like to have him back in today, if I
could,” Parsons said. “Tim will be back at the track the next two to three
weeks, working with the team and being like a driving coach.”
Whenever Shaffer returns, a seat is waiting for him.
“It will be Tim’s ride,” Parsons said. “I didn’t want anyone to give up a
good ride for this.” |

Racing Report
- Shaffer not making money right now, but it could be worse Dell Oakes,
Times Motor Sports 07/06/2006 |
|
Tim Shaffer has the ultimate
risk vs. reward career.
Shaffer Hopewell Township is
a race driver who competes on the National Sprint Tour.
His paychecks come only through driving. And they come race-to-race.
They can be big - his team won $30,000 when Shaffer won the Don Martin
Memorial World of Outlaws event last summer at Lernerville Speedway in
Sarver - or small, a couple hundred dollars a night for the team.
Right now, there are no paychecks, and none is expected in the near future.
Shaffer is at home in Hopewell recuperating from a serious race accident
suffered at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway June 23 when his sprint car flipped and
barrel-rolled end-over-end violently.
Shaffer fractured the C-1 vertebrae in his neck. When he can return to
racing is unknown. According to Shaffer's wife, Deb, a neurosurgeon in Des
Moines, Iowa, said her husband is a lucky man.
Shaffer knows it could have been worse ... much worse.
"The C-1 vertebrae is close to the brain and it is like a donut and it
fractured at 3 o'clock on the donut," Shaffer said Wednesday. "If it would
have broken it could have resulted in paralysis or death."
Shaffer was examined on Monday by Dr. Parvis Baghai, a neurosurgeon at
Pittsburgh's Allegheny General Hospital.
"I have to go back in 20 days to check the healing process," Shaffer said.
"They want 30 full days of healing so they can check the progress."
Shaffer said the doctor is looking into a bone growth stimulator to help
with the healing. His next evaluation is July 24.
In the meantime, he is wearing an Aspen cervical collar, a hard plastic neck
brace, and may wear it for up to 14 weeks.
"After the 24th the doctor said he will be able to tell when it will be
completely healed," Shaffer's wife, Deb, said of a possible time frame for
Tim to return to racing.
The original estimate was three months, which Tim is hoping to make a
reality due to financial concerns.
"I only get money from what the car brings in," he said. "I have to race to
make money. I'm using the money I usually have saved for winter. So winter
is going to be tough this year."
Shaffer is hoping he can return to racing by mid-September, which would give
him about 10 races left on the National Sprint Tour season.
This would help ease the financial crunch heading into the off season.
On Shaffer's website, Deb Shaffer offered her thanks to well-wishers.
"I want to thank everyone for their calls and prayers," she wrote. "I knew
we had some great friends and family, but it truly is amazing how you are
not totally aware of just how great until the time comes that you need them
and they are there."
Times correspondent Dell Oakes reports on local auto racing.
Lynn Geisler of Cranberry Township is among the favorites heading into this
weekends Penn National 40 at Pittsburghs Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in
North Fayette Township. Geisler is the points leader in the late models at
Lernerville Speedway in Sarver and is third in points at PPMS, recently
winning his first PPMS feature of the season that brought his career win
total to 66 at the track.
The Penn National weekend at PPMS begins with a 25-lap feature for late
models Saturday night that will serve as a tune-up for Sundays 40-lap,
$4,000-to-win main event. Saturdays program will also have the other weekly
divisions competing. Racing begins at 7 p.m. both nights.
BeaveRun MotorSports Complex in Big Beaver will have its Pittsburgh Vintage
Grand Prix events Friday through Sunday to kick off the 24th annual
Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix that will conclude in Schenley Park in Oakland
July 16. The cars at BeaveRun will include Vintage cars like Ferraris,
Jaguars, Corvettes, Cobras and GT40s. Joining them will be the faster BMWs
and Porsches that are too fast for the Schenley Park events, where their
speeds would be unsafe for that track. On Friday, racing begins at 8 a.m. On
Saturday and Suynday, racing starts at 8:30 a.m. For information, call
724-535-1000.
In dirt track modified racing, New Brightons Kevin Bolland won his third
feature of the season with his 34th career win at Lernerville Speedway.
Bolland leads the points standings at both Lernerville and Tri-City Speedway
in Franklin.

Update from Deb Shaffer 7-3-06 |
We went to the neurosurgeon
in Pittsburgh this morning. He looked at the CT scans from Des Moines and
said that all we can do is wait for the bone to heal and form new bone to
make the fracture stable. They are going to check into a bone growth
stimulator that may enable the healing to go a little quicker, although
that is brand new technology and they are not sure if it would be of
assistance in this situation or not. He said that Tim will have to keep
the Aspen Collar on until the bone heals, just like a cast, which may take
up to 14 weeks.
We are scheduled for some
more testing and another appointment with the neurosurgeon on July 24th to
see how the healing process is going and should have a better
understanding of the healing time table.
Thanks to everyone for
their thoughts and prayers!

Update from Deb Shaffer 6-28-06 |
|
Hi,
I wanted to give everyone an update on Tim's progress.
We finally made it home after getting to the airport in Des Moines at 5:00
a.m. on Monday; we touched down in Pittsburgh at 4:20 p.m. We are
getting settled, Tim is very uncomfortable, but I thank the good lord that
he CAN feel the pain. The neurosurgeon in Des Moines said that he is a
very lucky man. Upon arriving home, I discovered that Little Timmy has
pink eye in both eyes - ugh! I made an appointment for a
highly recommended neurosurgeon at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh
and Tim has an appointment on July 3rd. After this neurosurgeon takes
a look at the fracture, hopefully we will know more at that time. For
now, wearing the aspen collar and giving the vertebrae time to heal are the
only two things Tim can do. The doctor did say that the more Tim is up and
walking around the better for his circulation.
I want to thank everyone for their calls and prayers.
I knew we had some great friends and family, but it truly is amazing how you
are not totally aware of just how great until the time comes that you need
them and they are there.
(For those of you that haven't heard - Tim was in a terrible
crash Friday night at Knoxville and fractured the C1 vertebrae in his neck -
he has other minor injuries [bumps and bruises] that are improving daily)
We love you all - Deb, Tim & Timmy |

June 25- Tim Shaffer Update: |
|
Tim will be discharged from the Des
Moines hospital today. Tim met with the neurologist this morning to discus
his second CAT scan. The test showed that Tim’s upper neck fracture will
require him to wear a hard plastic type neck brace for the next three weeks.
Tim will have a follow up CAT scan
(Pittsburgh) in three weeks to check on progress.

6/23/06 Tim
was in a horrible accident last night at Knoxville Raceway (Iowa). Shaffer’s
car flipped and proceeded to barrel roll / end over end violently. |
|
The latest news on Tim is that he is up
and walking and will be consulting with neurologist Sunday morning. More
test have been taken and the prognosis is much better than it was this
morning. Check back tomorrow and we should have more detailed information on
injuries and recovery time.
Please keep Tim and his family in your

NST Results from Davenport
Speedway, Davenport, IA (june 14). "The Steel City Outlaw" finished 7th
in 30 lap main event. |
|
The Casey’s General Stores
car had a so-so night. Shaffer timed 9th quick; he finished
second in heat #3, and 6th in fast dash #2. After starting 12th
in the A-main Tim was slowly working his way forward. On lap seventeen the
Casey’s #6 Vocon sprinter was inside the top ten when the red flag flew.
This red flag stop worked to Tim’s advantage, because Tim had a rear tire
going flat so he ducked into the pits for a new Hoosier under "red". The
diligent crew quickly put on a fresh Hoosier and The Steel City Outlaw
rejoined the race at the tail of the field. With only 13 laps remaining Tim
kept his elbows up and in the end finished 7th! GO TIM!!

NST results Hagerstown MD (June 10). "The
Steel City Outlaw" takes sixth in Maryland finale. |
|
The fast 1/2 Mile Semi-Banked Clay Oval
was a little on the "slick side"; so most of the cars were hugging the
bottom line and staying there. Tim timed the Casey’s General Stores sprinter
14th fast; he won his heat, and finished fourth in the first dash
which set the red #6 Maxim of Shaffer 7th on the grid. In the
A-main Tim tried a couple different lines, had a few great battles in the
process and in the end wound up sixth. It was another solid finish for the
Parsons MotorSports Team………Tim is 5th in NST points. Next up for the NST: Sunday June 11th, Selinsgrove Speedway,
located in Selinsgrove PA. GO TIM!!

NST preliminary, Susquehanna
Speedway Park, Newberrytown, PA (June 8). Tim finished 20th in
last nights prelim. main event. |
|
It was a
rough night for Shaffer and the Casey’s General Stores Team. "The Steel City
Outlaw" circled the 4/10 Mile Semi-Banked Clay Oval 16.580 (not good),
however a heat race win locked the Parsons Motor Sports #6 into the A-main.
Unfortunately for Tim the cars handling was just not there. The Casey’s crew
will make changes today and try again tonight! GO TIM!! Qualifying

NST Results from Fremont
Speedway, Oh. (June 6th). Tim finished 5th in exciting
40 lap finale. |
|
The
Casey’s General Stores Team prepared a great car for their driver. Tim
Shaffer circled the Ohio Speedway in 14.763 seconds which was 14th
quick overall. "The Steel City Outlaw" transferred directly to the first
fast dash through his heat, which he won, placing the Vocon / VRP Shocks
sponsored #6 on the pole for the 40 lap A-main. In the A-feature Tim jumped
out to the early lead and held point for four circuits. Then it was David
Harrison’s turn to lead. On lap thirteen things were really getting
exciting! Tim regained the lead and held it for the next 5 laps, weaving in
and out of lapped traffic using not only the low line, but the high line as
well! Basically just going where other cars weren’t! In the end Tim faded to
finish 5th …….Tim said, "I abused my right rear tire, and it was
a soft compound to start with". Tim also said, "I was good early, but the
car went away, It’s disappointing, but that’s part of racing. When you have
the pole and don’t win, it’s hard."

NST results, Bloomington Speedway
(June 2). Tim finished 9th in Indiana main event. |
|
The Steel City Outlaw qualified the
Casey’s car 4th fast, finished 4th in his heat race
which transferred him to the outside pole for fast dash #2. In the short 6
lap dash Tim grabbed the lead early and won convincingly! This placed the
red #6 of Shaffer on the outside of row #1 for the A-Feature. When the 40
lap main went green Tim rocketed into the lead and was setting a torrid pace
for his competitors. By lap 4 (or 5) The Steel City Outlaw was encountering
lapped traffic. On the sixth circuit two lapped cars got together, causing
one car to dart up the track and into race leader Shaffer. This sent the
Casey’s General Stores car up & out of the track. Fortunately, for Tim the
car stayed on its wheels (no guide rail like Lernerville’s back
stretch)….Tim hung on and drove back on to the racing surface; however, by
this point Shaffer was now somewhere around 10th- 11th.
Tim wound up finishing 9th. To bad though, the Casey’s car was
hooked up and hauling tail! GO TIM!!

Williams Grove Speedway (May
26) - Tim finished 9th in "Grove" Preliminary Feature. |
|
"The Steel City Outlaw" started (night #1)
out fairly well when he timed the Terry McCarl owned #24 sprinter 7th
fast from the 49 cars entered. However a 7th place heat race
finish placed Shaffer in the "B" main. With only 4 cars transferring into
the A-main Tim’s task at hand was to finish in the top four, and that he
did, 3rd, moving the #24 Big Game Tree Stands car into the "A"
feature. During the 25 lap main event Tim stayed focused, kept his elbows up
and brought the #24 home 9th (started 13th).
The #24 team is already hard at work preparing for tonight’s finale.

5-20-06. NST, Dodge City Raceway Park. “The Steel City Outlaw” rides out of
Dodge with the victory!!! |

Tim
Shaffer and car owner Lonny Parsons celebrate in victory lane!
Some nights in
racing you just (almost) win everything, and last night was one of those
nights for Tim
Shaffer! Other than a second place heat race finish Tim had
the Casey’s General Store / Parsons #6 at the top of the charts. Shaffer
set fast time, he finished 2nd in his heat, won the fast dash,
and went on to WIN the 40 lap Dodge City A-Feature!
Tim got the jump at the start and led the first eight
circuits. On lap nine the crowd saw Paul McMahan take point until lap 18
when Shaffer powered around the Tony Stewart owned #20 to regain the lead,
this time it was for good! Tim went on to score his first NST win not only
for himself, but for car owner Lonny Parsons a well! GREAT JOB!!

followed by a fifth place finish in the first fast dash.. When the main
event went green the #6 of Shaffer was in the 10th starting spot,
and thirty laps later when the checkered flag flew he was 8th. In
between there was some great side by side racing with exciting passes. It
wasn’t exactly the finish Tim wanted, but that’s racing! The Parsons
